ATi has the ball in their court for this gen of cards, hopefully they rehash their 58xx so nvidia lower their prices, might then upgrade from my 295 to a 480
Actually I will be buying it after 3 to 4 months, and my goal is to get the best graphics card on the market as of NOW.
The guy is saying he's going to buy the best card that's on the market NOW in 3-4 months. It might not be the 5970 by then... Why not make you're decision when you go to buy the card, rather than right now?
Because he's clearly not too bright given the fact that we've told him the best card on the market several times in this post but can't put two and two together
The reason I'm going to get the 5970 later is because I wouldn't have the money to buy the best graphics card then because again, I would have to save up money to buy it. I don't have the money to buy the 5970 right now so I'm going to save up for it, I have other expenses as well and they are rather important than a graphics card for my new build. Also, if I can play games coming in the next 1 or 2 years on my new graphics card with ease, I wouldn't be bothered that much to get a newer one since it would fulfill my needs at the moment.
I don't understand your logic.. Currently the 5970 is 700 quid.. by the time you have 700 quid for a 5970, the next gen will be out. (We can safely assume the 61xx). So why wouldn't you just get the newest card?
SAVING UP MONEY TO BUY THE FASTEST CARD IS STUPID. SAVING UP MONEY TO BUY THE FASTEST CARD IS STUPID. SAVING UP MONEY TO BUY THE FASTEST CARD IS STUPID. in general, the FASTEST cards are only for the rich. If you're an enthusiast, buy a somewhat lower card, NOW and enjoy it. FYI the next gen of cards from ATI are due later this year right around the time you'd have money for the 5900... so your 5900, while powerful, would be outdated. generally, the naming scheme goes as follows XYZ0 x= generation y= class (9 = dual GPU supreme card, 8= highend, 7 = mainstream, 6 = entry level 5= mediocre 4 = shit 3,2,1 =pointless for gaming) z= segment(9= top, 7= almost as good, 5=decent, 3= castrated) so the supreme card in the 5th gen is the 5970 HALF of a 5970 is a 5870(two 5870s in CF are a little faster than a 5970) 5870 = 4870x2 5850 = 90% of a 5870 5830 = 70% of a 5870 = 4890 5770 = 55-65% of a 5870 = 4850 5750 = 45-55% of a 5870 5650 = ... you get the idea for those wondering, the top cards only really shine at 2560*1600. If you're at 1920*1200 or 1920*1080, the 5970 isn't really any better than a 5870 or 5850 and outside of the newest games, even a 5770 would work well.
